Cleaning and Prevention

At your first visit, a thorough examination of your mouth is done to determine the type of cleaning that is best for you and if any dental work is needed.  This also typically includes x-rays, cancer screening, and fluoride.

One of the best ways to prevent tooth decay is the use of sealants.  Sealants are applied to the naturally occurring pits and grooves of posterior teeth that have a high risk of decaying. It’s a resin coating that fills in these areas to inhibit food and cavity causing bacteria to accumulate. Sealants are typically applied with the eruption of posterior teeth in children.
